Joining the Dojo
Printable Version

Before deciding whether or not to join the dojo, we encourage you to watch one class and then try a class or two. See the current class schedule for a list of the days/times Aikido classes are offered. All of the classes offered are open to everyone, regardless of age or rank.

If you decide you want to become a member of the dojo, please tell an instructor or a brown or black belt. This person will help you get a card filled out and in the dojo dues box. You may also purchase a dogi (gi or uniform) from us for cost plus shipping. Dogis usually run around thirty dollars ($30), depending on the size. We ask that you wear white, judo-weight dogis to avoid mat burn.

Dojo Fees/Dues:

Greensboro Kodokan Aikido Dojo is a nonprofit organization and all our instructors teach on a volunteer basis. We are committed to keeping dues reasonable. Membership dues are forty dollars ($45) each month, due by the first. If only attending the children's class, dues are twenty-five dollars ($25) each month. You have until the fifteenth of each month to pay the dues without penalty; after the fifteenth, please add a five dollar ($5) late charge. You may practice every class during the month or just one -- dues remain the same regardless. However, if you are not on the mat at all, you do not owe dues for that month.

We enjoy the opportunity to train with traveling aikidoka from other dojos when they are passing through the Greensboro area. Mat fees for such visitors are five dollars ($5) per class.

Thank you for your support of the dojo. Happy training!
